Adam Floyd is a third year biochemistry major with minors in biology and math. He joined the Solouki Lab in January of 2016. Adam plans to enroll in an MD/PhD program after graduation. He is originally from Southlake, Texas and is currently working with Ian Anthony on the GC-VUV-MS analysis project.
Current Research
“My research over the course of my past ten months in the Solouki Lab has been focused on the development and use of the pre-cryofocusing triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (PC-TQMS) system with Ian Anthony. We have applied PC-TQMS to the testing of photocatalysts for use in the reduction of NOx polutants and, recently, in conjunction with the VUV absorbtion spectrometer. Now, we are completing work on a combined gas chromatography, VUV spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (GC-VUV-MS) detection system for unambiguous identification of compounds. Future research directions include applying this system to breath analysis and gas impurity detection.”
