Language: English
Scripture Reference: Romans 5:8
Liturgical Uses/Seasons: Easter

The hymn “My Faith Has Found a Resting Place” captures the essence of an unwavering personal faith in Christ. It begins with the expression of a complete reliance on Christ rather than human doctrines or some religious creeds formulated by man. The hymn emphasizes that true faith rests solely on the ever-living Christ, whose sacrificial wounds are for the redemption of mankind. This hymn aligns with Romans 5:8, which says, “But God shows His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, he died for us,” emphasizing that the death of Jesus is a sufficient plea for salvation, stressing that there is no need for any further arguments or justification, this echoes Ephesians 2:8-9, which teaches that we are saved through grace and not by our own works.

The hymn re-enforces the believer’s total trust in Jesus as the basis for salvation and healing. It climaxes the comfort the Christ gives to a sinful soul who come to Him, assuring that He will never cast them out. This promise is reflected in John 3:37 which says, all that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes, I will never cast out. The hymn also portrays Jesus as a great physician, reiterating Christ’s purpose to save and heal the lost, reminiscent of Luke 19:10, which says, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.” The hymn ultimately underscores the precious blood of Jesus, which was shed for believers, is the foundation of their hope and assurance that in His death, they find both healing and salvation

The hymn is used usually as a Choir Piece. The hymn is used as a hymn of assurance during Sunday worship. The hymn is used during outreach programs. The hymn is used during the Lord’s Supper, emphasizing Christ’s Death for mankind’s redemption. The hymn is used in hymn interpretation sermons.

Lyrics

1. My faith has found a resting place,
Not in device or creed;
I trust the ever-living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.

Refrain
I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

2. Enough for me that Jesus saves,
This ends my fear and doubt;
A sinful soul I come to Him,
He’ll never cast me out.

3. My heart is leaning on the Word,
The living Word of God,
Salvation by my Savior’s Name,
Salvation through His blood.

4. My great Physician heals the sick,
The lost He came to save;
For me His precious blood He shed,
For me His life He gave.
