Amazing Grace is often used during altar call as a hymn of invitation. A good number of Nigerian faithful, especially the older folks like to sing this hymn again and again as reminds them of the grace they found in Christ Jesus, by which they were saved from the wretched idolatry life and its bondage. Liturgically, this hymn is a response to the love of Christ. Hence, it is a hymn of invitation during the altar call to encourage those who would like to make one decision or the other. The hymn is usually performed and accompanied by a keyboard, bass guitar, drum set, and any other available instruments. Theologically, it is a hymn of salvation.
