Area 1: Photonic Integrated Circuits and Nanophotonic Devices using Transparent Conductive Oxides
Transparent conductive oxides are wide bandgap semiconductor materials with unique optical and electrical properties. Our group focuses on nanophotonic devices and photonic integrated circuits for on-chip optical interconnects, optical computing, and tunable optical filters for space applications.
Area 2: Optical Biosensors based on Diatom Photonic Crystals
Diatoms are single-cell algae that possess unique photonic crystal structures with nano-scale periodic pores embedded in their frustules. Various optical biosensors have been developed utilizing the unique optical and chemical properties of diatom photonic crystals.
