At Workday, the world’s leader in Enterprise Cloud Software Solutions for Human Capital Management, Financial Management, and Planning solutions, Uman Bakshi is a Key Account Director. Uman sells to three of the biggest companies globally and has brought six Fortune 100 companies to Workday, securing some of the company’s largest deals. Last year, he was ranked #1 in his sales sector.
Uman’s career began at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he sold to small companies. He holds an undergraduate degree from James Madison University and a graduate degree from San Diego State University. Giving tours at JMU and attending entrepreneur guest speaker events at SDSU were pivotal experiences that prepared him for a career in sales.
Professionally, he has achieved the highest standard in sales – the President’s Club for 24 out of 28 years. This consistent success across new places, roles, and companies is a source of great pride for him. Personally, Uman finds his greatest joy in his family.
Uman is actively involved in his kids’ school, serving on several committees and having been on the school boards in the past. He believes in attacking each day with the goal of long-term improvement. He emphasizes learning more about business and technology daily, improving sales techniques, and taking risks. Uman advises always doing what is best for the customer, as the financial rewards will follow. Listening closely to customers and being relentless and creative in meeting their needs is crucial. Lastly, he stresses the importance of taking initiative and being a leader.
