Emily McCandlish represents Palo Alto Networks as an Enterprise Account Manager, where she is responsible for managing and growing business with 10-15 customers. Her role focuses on driving both existing business and expansion through upselling, promoting other product lines, and breaking into new accounts.
Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, Emily started her career as an outside sales representative in the Industrial Division at 3M, after completing the Professional Selling program at Baylor University in 2019. After 3M, she transitioned to technology sales at Dell Technologies, before moving to her current role at Palo Alto Networks. Emily credits the ProSales program for playing a pivotal role in her career success.
Emily is particularly proud of her transition from industrial manufacturing sales to technology sales, moving to a new city where she had no connections and quickly adapting both personally and professionally. During her two years at Dell, she exceeded her sales quota by over 500% and built a strong community in her new city.
Emily actively participates in networking and volunteer events, which have been instrumental in her career development. These events helped her connect with her current manager, who recruited her into her highly coveted role at Palo Alto Networks.
Her advice to students is simple but powerful: “Be humble and soak up everything. The preparation you’re doing now and the network you’re building will benefit you long term. Learn how to interview well, have executive presence, and master the art of storytelling – this will make a difference in your sales career.”
