Federated Insurance
Connor Kempston started his career at Federated Insurance as a marketing development trainee and spent 13 months in the training program before relocating to Texas for his outside sales role. Since the summer of 2021, he has been helping meet the business insurance, estate planning, succession planning, and bonding needs of clients across the hill country of Texas.
His daily tasks include meeting with current clients to ensure their needs are met, performing in-person cold calls on prospects, and proposing businesses he has put quotes together for.
Connor began his journey in Owatonna, Minnesota, where Federated Insurance is headquartered. He attended Baylor University, majoring in professional selling and entrepreneurship. One highlight of his college experience was competing in the sales competition at the University of Toledo, where he had the opportunity to practice what he learned in the professional selling program.
His greatest professional accomplishment is leading Federated Insurance in both the number of sales and the number of quotes in his second year in the field. In the personal sphere, he cherishes the fact that he’s getting married to his best friend, Sara, this coming November.
While he is not officially part of a volunteer organization, Connor leads the high school boys in his church youth group, which has helped him enhance his communication and leadership skills, benefiting his sales career.
His advice to students is to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and to embrace failure as a path to self-improvement, knowing they have a supportive team behind them.
