Colyn’s career journey started as an Implementation Consultant, where she traveled extensively, spending about 80% of her time across the country helping clients adopt software products. Over time, she discovered her passion for connecting her peers with the answers and resources needed to perform their jobs more effectively, making Project Management a natural progression given its central role in her work.
She is a Baylor University alumna, having double-majored in Professional Selling and Marketing. Colyn has fond memories of the team trips to sales competitions and the time she spent with her classmates.
Professionally, Colyn has worked for multiple startup companies, helping build and scale their professional services processes and teams. She finds excitement in the process of building something new. On a personal note, she takes great pride in being a mom to her two boys, even though they bring chaos into her life, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Colyn has also volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the past five years as a member of the Wine Events committee. The committee raises significant amounts of money dedicated to scholarships, providing an excellent opportunity for networking, community involvement, and having fun while giving back.
Her advice to students in the Professional Selling program is to take time to figure out what they want to do and then take advantage of every opportunity that aligns with their goals. She encourages students to embrace the present as a time to learn, grow, and be unafraid of failures, which are opportunities for valuable lessons.
