Ace Coustol
Director, New Business
Malin USA

Meet Ace Coustol, the dynamic Director of New Business Development at Malin. His journey with the company began in May 2023, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous role as the Regional Vice President at a leading material handling company. In that capacity, Ace oversaw diverse divisions, including New Equipment and Leasing in Texas, the National Account Division across North America, and the establishment of a manufacturer distribution business across Canada.

At Malin, Ace is entrusted with a critical roleā€”leading the Business Development Sales team to drive substantial revenue growth at both local and national levels. His responsibilities encompass the entire spectrum of team leadership, from recruitment and training to sales management and strategic vision development. In his day-to-day, Ace finds himself coaching and nurturing new talents, designing comprehensive training programs, and crafting the overarching business strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.

Ace’s journey in the world of business started in 2012 as a sales trainee in Vancouver, BC, Canada. His career took him to Northern Canada in 2014, where he embraced a Territory sales role, gaining valuable experience in selling equipment to forestry companies. In 2018, he seized the opportunity to lead the sales team in Texas after his company’s acquisition of the Texas division. This yearning for growth and challenges led him to embark on a new chapter with Malin in 2023, focusing on intralogistics services and the warehousing industry. Ace’s academic journey is equally impressive, with a diploma in Marketing Management and a specialization in Professional Sales from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In 2019, he added another feather to his cap by completing his Master of Business Administration at the University of Northern British Columbia, with standout courses in Statistics, Operations Management, and Entrepreneurship. His memorable experience of impromptu presentations without PowerPoint in the Entrepreneurship class equipped him with valuable skills in improvisation.

While Ace has achieved early promotions and overcome significant adversities, he now cherishes his family as his proudest accomplishment. His successful career hasn’t come at the expense of his relationships with his wife and four children, and he holds this work-life balance close to his heart. While Ace currently doesn’t belong to professional organizations, he is an active member of a church community group, where he finds alignment with his values and purpose.

Ace’s sage advice for budding professionals centers on self-investment early in their careers. He emphasizes the paramount importance of honing sales skills, recognizing that the ability to cultivate new business is a rare and invaluable asset. In his view, such skills are a solid foundation upon which to build a successful professional career and life.
