Vincent Chapa is the Managing Director at Axen. Throughout his 25+ years in industry, he has specialized in bringing new logo business to his organizations and increasing sales exponentially.
Getting his start at IBM as a sales trainee, after a one-year training program, Vince was given a sales territory in Chicago. Advancing in his career, he has held various executive positions including Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Vice President of Global Sales.
His current role involves creating the go-to-market strategy, and hiring and managing the sales team to accomplish this strategy. “Daily, I am responsible for inspiring, coaching, and managing the sales team. This also entails establishing the budgets and the hiring plans to grow the team.”
Passionate about inclusion, Vincent has been continuously involved in diversity programs throughout his career in order to highlight the contributions made by a diverse workforce. Currently, he is the President of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce for the Southwest Region. “This allows me to be a part of the decisions being made concerning commerce between the United States, Mexico, and Canada.”
Vince attended Roosevelt University in Chicago and majored in International Marketing. Remembering his time there, “my favorite classes were in marketing as they addressed the way that companies established markets and sold their products. Sales was definitely in my future at that time.”
Being a part of the Baylor ProSales program for over 10 years has provided Vince with the ability to work with young professionals who are just as passionate about sales as he is. He wants to encourage current ProSales students to “treat the program as a profession. Demonstrate respect for it and be proud to have been a part of a program that teaches you how to qualify as a professional member.”
