Product Account Manager
BMC Software
Tyler Spears is a Product Account Manager (PAM) at BMC Software, where he focuses exclusively on new logo acquisition within his business unit. In this role, Tyler is responsible for identifying and developing net-new opportunities across a large portfolio of enterprise accounts—covering twice as many organizations as he did in his previous position. Unlike his prior role, Tyler is no longer responsible for renewals, allowing him to focus entirely on hunting new business and driving growth in untapped markets. His day-to-day includes prospecting, pipeline development, account research, territory planning, customer calls, and travel to meet with prospective clients in person.
Tyler’s academic journey took him through Baylor University’s ProSales program, where ProSales 2 stood out as the most valuable class he ever took. Reflecting on his college experience, Tyler says, “It’s difficult for a reason,” highlighting the rigor of the program that prepared him for the demands of a career in enterprise sales.
Professionally, Tyler considers earning a promotion to his current role as a key milestone, and personally, he’s proud of his athletic background and the discipline it instilled in him. Tyler is also engaged to fellow ProSales alum Kate Sralla, who works at BMC Software as well.
Tyler’s advice for students is to “Lean in, engage with the faculty and your fellow students, and embrace the difficulty – it’s required for true growth.” Looking back, he adds that while he initially took a lone-wolf approach in the ProSales program, his early career at BMC has shown him the true value of collaboration—with mentors, teammates, and his broader ecosystem—which has been instrumental to his growth and success.
