Baylor Professional Selling Students Learn Through Hands-On Experience at RBI National Sales Challenge
Baylor Professional Selling students Sam Azide, Tiffany Larkam and Caleb Simmons competed in the Russ Berrie Institute National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University November 18-20, 2016.
The competition included a sales role play and speed-selling competition, which required students to engage with company executives for two minutes and position themselves for job opportunities.
“The competition provided a great way to gain more sales experience and to utilize the skills we have learned in the classroom at Baylor,” said Larkam. Simmons added, “RBI provided an exceptional event that allowed me to learn through great hands-on experience. I was able to learn valuable information about the business and sales world, which I will be able to carry with me throughout the remainder of my schooling and professional careers.”
Baylor Professor Chuck Fifield coached the team alongside student coaches Matt Galvin and Alisha Pace. Caleb Ellison served as an apprentice to the team, and ProSales Alum Tyler Kopas served as the on-site Alumni Coach.
“RBI is a demanding competitive challenge for our students because its scope is so broad,” said Fifield. “Thanks to our team effort with more experienced students actively coaching fellow students and assisting me, our participating competitors had a great learning experience. Competitions like RBI offer our students many opportunities to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.”
More than 100 college students representing 37 universities participated in the competition, which is designed to strengthen students’ sales skills and offer the opportunity to network with business executives from companies around the country.
