Student Feature – Katie Simutis

When Katie Simutis began her Baylor journey, her goal was to become a practicing dentist. Little did she know that after changing her major four times, she would arrive at a profession that allows her to be immersed in cosmetic dentistry—the industry for which she has great passion.

Katie’s love for dentistry began in high school. She shadowed dentists and dreamed of going to college to pursue her dream. When she arrived at Baylor, she quickly got involved in ASDA (the American Student Dental Association), and signed up for an internship with a dentist in Waco. But, God had a different plan and Katie felt called to be obedient.

Soon enough, she found the Professional Selling program and felt the peace of being “home.” Through the ProSales program, Katie has been able to blend her love of dentistry and sales. She met representatives from Henry Schein, a distributor of healthcare products and services to office-based dental, medical, and animal health practitioners, at a career fair. Through that encounter, Katie realized she could immerse herself in the dental world as a sales professional…and that makes her smile.
