Tyler Spears is an Associate Product Account Manager (PAM) at BMC. Before stepping into this position, Tyler completed the BMC Champion Academy, an accelerated early-in-career training program that set the foundation for his current responsibilities.
As an Associate Product Account Manager, Tyler plays a dual role as both a hunter and a farmer. He is responsible for prospecting new accounts and expanding the current estate of existing customers, effectively managing the relationship between BMC and its clients within his specific business unit. His daily tasks include prospecting and pipeline generation, industry and account research, business planning, customer calls, and traveling to meet clients in person.
Tyler’s academic journey took him through Baylor University’s ProSales program, where ProSales 2 stood out as the most valuable class he ever took. Reflecting on his college experience, Tyler says, “It’s difficult for a reason,” emphasizing the rigor of the program that prepared him for the challenges of his career.
Professionally, he considers signing with BMC and earning a promotion to his current role as his most significant achievements so far. Although Tyler’s baseball career is behind him, he remains proud of his accomplishments on the field.
Tyler’s advice for students is to “Lean in, engage with the faculty and your fellow students, and embrace the difficulty – it’s required for true growth.” He also reflects on his time in the ProSales program, acknowledging that while he attempted to be a lone wolf, he recognizes that a more collaborative approach would have enriched his experience even further.
