Baylor ProSales Announces the Results of the 2025 BBEC Competition

Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling is excited to announce the winners for the 2025 Baylor Business Ethics Competition (BBEC), a ProSales program-specific competition designed to challenge ProSales students with ethical dilemmas evident in sales and distribution. This year’s case challenged students to compile a playbook that addresses the ethical and legal issues faced by TD Bank. One of North America’s largest financial institutions, TD Bank pleaded guilty in 2024 to conspiracy to commit money laundering and to violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. TD Bank agreed to $3+B in penalties as they were found to have conspired to neglect anti-money laundering (AML) controls and compliance by processing $670M in illegal proceeds from narcotics cartels.

The ProSales BBEC engaged 172 students on 43 teams. Students were assigned to their competition teams to ensure that each team included freshmen/ sophomores, juniors, and seniors as well as both males and females. Team-level GPAs were normalized across the teams for fairness. The top four winning teams for this year’s BBEC include:

  1. Lily Barnett, Jonny Caruana, Tate Caswell, Ethan Teelock (pictured to the left)
  2. Jacob Chew, Emily Jones, Stephen Murray, & Annie Whitson
  3. Gianni Caltagirone, Finn Rintamaki, Ava Truan, & Maegan Womack
  4. Sam Brown, Craig Gardner, Taylor Gibson, Levi Lobbes

“BBEC was an incredible opportunity to apply everything we’ve learned in ProSales to a real business challenge. Our team leaned on each other’s strengths, stayed focused, and communicated with purpose. Walking away with a top finish was a testament to the power of preparation, teamwork, and staying composed under pressure. It’s a great way to wrap up my final fall semester at Baylor,” shared Tate Caswell, captain of the 1st place team.

Top individual speakers were Celeste Derstine, Samuel Koo, Baker Tipton, and Tucker Tripp (shown at right) who were chosen by their room judges. Participants competed in four rooms with five judges per room, comprised of sixteen business executives and four Baylor ProSales faculty and staff members.

Top speaker, Baker Tipton noted, “Participating in BBEC was an incredible opportunity to tackle real-world ethical challenges in a competitive setting. Collaborating with my team pushed me to think critically and communicate with clarity and conviction. Being recognized as a best speaker is an honor, and it’s a meaningful way to close out my senior fall semester. I’m grateful to Baylor ProSales for creating such and impactful experience.”
