Josie Rice – Dancing through Challenges with Resilience
Josie Rice’s journey is a testament to her resilience, passion, and commitment to making a positive impact. From the age of three, Josie has been deeply involved in dance, a passion that led her to perform on the Division I dance team at Grand Canyon University. However, inspired by her brother’s exceptional experience at Baylor, she made the challenging decision to transfer during her sophomore year. This transition also marked a shift in her academic focus from Athletic Training to business, where she dedicated herself to joining the ProSales program. Josie’s background in dance has seamlessly translated into her new path, with her performance experience enhancing her public speaking skills and her discipline in dance mirroring the preparation needed for high-stakes sales calls. The collaborative spirit she learned through team dance settings has proven invaluable in building strong client connections.
At Baylor, Josie’s extracurricular activities reflect her diverse interests and commitment to service. As a member of the Baylor Dance Company, she continues to pursue her passion for dance through performances and competitions. Her dedication to service is evident in her active participation in Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she volunteers at Parkdale Elementary and participated in a mission trip to Guatemala with One More Child. This experience allowed her to engage in cultural exchange and contribute to the organization’s mission of supporting vulnerable families and children. Additionally, Josie volunteers at the Humane Society, caring for animals, and has expanded her creative skills by choreographing Delta Tau Delta’s Sing act, bringing narratives to life through dance.
The ProSales program has been instrumental in Josie’s development, instilling in her a strong foundation of time management, organizational discipline, and professional conduct. The rigorous coursework and practical approach have significantly improved her presentation and communication skills, enabling her to engage effectively across various platforms. Josie’s resilience is evident in her determination to overcome obstacles, such as earning a place on the dance team at Grand Canyon University after an initial rejection and dedicating her summer to complete business prerequisites for the ProSales program. Her passion for making a positive contribution extends beyond transactions, as she aspires to sell solutions that genuinely improve lives. Josie’s love for animals and desire to support women-owned coffee farms inspire her dream of creating a coffee shop that champions sustainability and contributes to animal welfare.
