ProSales Sophomore Gives Baylor the 1st Place Finish

Baylor ProSales competed in the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition (UTISC) with sales teams from 37 other universities. The UTISC showcases junior- and sophomore-level talent. Baylor ProSales student Hannah Hyepock took 1st place in the sophomore division, while Lilly Beyer placed 13th in the junior division. As a result of Hannah’s and Lilly’s combined efforts, the Baylor sales team placed 3rd (tie) overall. Hannah and Lilly’s development was supported by a team of student coaches: Luke Holder, Lucas Kampman, Andrew Richards, Grace Simmons, and Andrew Smith. Bree Meadows, the assistant director for the Center for Professional Selling, led the Baylor team’s efforts through practices and the Toledo-based competition. She and the competitors braved some icy conditions in Texas to travel to Ohio where it was warmer than Texas.
Hannah Hyepock reflected, “UTISC provided a special opportunity to see tangible growth as a seller. As a sophomore, the UTISC was my very first external sales competition. At the start, I remember feeling nervous simply going into the practice role plays. Fast forward three and a half weeks of coaching and preparation, and I can confidently say my approach to selling has transformed. Thanks to the support from the amazing student mentors and Ms. Meadows as our team leader, I not only gained confidence but also a new perspective on sales. Instead of pushing a product onto a buyer, I learned to position it as a solution to their challenges and tailor the pitch to fit the buyer’s needs. I couldn’t have done it without them!”
The UTISC is the first national collegiate sales competition to be certified by the University Sales Center Alliance (USCA) as a best practices and quality competition. “Led by Deirdre Jones, the team at the University of Toledo contributes substantially to the sales discipline through this competition, their leadership in sales education, and the impact their faculty have on sales research. We are proud to participate in the UTISC competition,” noted Andrea Dixon, the executive director of Baylor’s Professional Selling Program and Major.
