Competition Results: Baylor Business Value Analysis (BBVA) competition
Baylor ProSales recently announced the results of the Baylor Business Value Analysis (BBVA) competition, where students completed a value analysis and delivered the results to an existing customer via video. Representing BMC Software (a ProSales Platinum Plus corporate partner), BBVA competitors engaged a large global healthcare customer regarding a software contract that was up for renewal. The contract needed to be expanded to accommodate broader-than-anticipated usage. Student competitors addressed how to align the new contract in terms of product offerings, pricing, and terms.
Value videos were judged virtually by 96 Corporate Partners, Advisory and Ambassador board members and business executives from around the country. Among the 144 individual competitors, the top BBVA finishers are:
1. Paris Musto
2. Tatum Reeves
3. Collin Bass (tie)
3. Benj Nopper (tie)
5. Ashley Dohlman
6. Trevor Gaswirth
7. Gracie Miller
8. Piya Patel
9. Anthony Amesti
10. Grace Jorgensen
The top finisher, Paris Musto, shared, “BBVA is a great competition because it shows the importance that every word has when communicating with a customer. Learning to speak in a concise and compelling manner is critical to gaining a buyer’s attention and approval. After all, they say, ‘time is money,’ and I’m grateful that Baylor ProSales allows us to practice this skill as this isn’t always emphasized in other courses. This being my second time competing in BBVA, I have also learned the importance of putting myself in the customer’s position and understanding the tone and message that will provide the most value to them. It’s easy to communicate what you believe is important, but understanding the customer’s perspective is key!”
“Working with BMC Software to develop the BBVA competition materials is fantastic. Their business-to-business sales setting represents a rich context for students to showcase their learning in a video, an important tool for today’s sellers,” noted Dr. Andrea Dixon, Executive Director of the Center for Professional Selling.
The BBVA allows Baylor students to see how they stack up against their peers and allows the center’s Corporate Partners to view Baylor talent as they prepare to enter the job market. In addition, top performers are awarded cash prizes.
