Student Feature – Andres Cruz Maldonado

Angling to Care for Others

Andres stands out as a five-major student at Baylor (ProSales, Finance, MIS, Business Fellows and Philosophy), but outside the classroom he is a passionate individual with a deep connection to the aquatic world. He’s not only an avid angler but also a certified diver who finds solace and wonder beneath the waves. At home, Andres further nurtures his love for the aquatic through swimming.

Mission work holds a special place in Andres’s heart. His dedication to serving others has led him to engage in both domestic and international mission trips, including meaningful experiences in Mexico. He understands the value of words and actions in making a difference in people’s lives, emphasizing the importance of compassion and empathy in his approach to mission work.

Andres’s caring disposition extends beyond missions; it influences his interactions with friends. He’s successfully convinced two roommates to move from Houston to Waco, despite them not attending Baylor. His ability to connect and persuade stems from his genuine care for those around him. In the ProSales program, Andres finds a community that aligns with his values. He appreciates the balance between competitiveness and a caring, supportive environment, making it a place where he can thrive while making a positive impact on others’ lives.
