ProSales Takes 1st Place Team in Colorado Competition
Baylor’s ProSales tied for the 1st place team finish with the University of Kansas at the 2022 Rocky Mountain Madness competition hosted by E.W. Scripps and Metropolitan State University of Denver. The Rocky Mountain Madness or RMM competition included two distinct competitions unfolding over six rounds. RMM began with an interview competition, and then a 64-bracket-style competition involving five rounds of role plays. For the final round, the top four competitors in the role play compete head-to-head. Baylor’s team included Katie Boatwright, Shao Chao, Holly Cunningham, Abigail Hedgecock, Mason Pound, and Aaron Schaff.
Students from 16 universities participated in the single-elimination role play competition. RMM’s first round involved a scored interview. Baylor ProSales’ Mason Pound took the top interview finish across the entire field of competitors. For the five rounds of role plays, 64 competitors were winnowed to a set of four final competitors. Based on the six competitor’s combined showing, Baylor ProSales secured the tie for top team with Mason Pound as Baylor’s top role play competitor.
“The Rocky Mountain Madness Sales Competition was truly a great experience, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the collective effort of our team! While all of the competition rounds were individually based, we have poured in so much time as a team that every successful moment filled us all with excitement. It was an honor to represent Baylor ProSales, but an even greater honor to have worked with such an amazing group of talented individuals, all with extremely bright futures ahead of them!” shared Mason Pound.
Student coaches for the Baylor team included Keaton Kechter, Jason Treese, Olivia Van Der Reijden, and Paul Wyatt. The faculty coach, Dr. Andrea Dixon, also applauded this student coaching team, “I’ve been working with 2-5 competition teams each year and have engaged with a large number of student coaches. This student coaching team was the most consistently engaged and supportive of all of the teams that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. We were also blessed to have Erica Standfield, from BMC, serving as our corporate competition coach.”
Participating universities included Baylor University, Boise State University, Colorado State University, Denver University, Florida State University, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Purdue University, University of North Alabama, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Kansas, University of North Dakota, Utah State University, Washington State University, Western Colorado University, and Winona State University.
