Baylor ProSales Wins Big in Wisconsin
On a beautiful October weekend, Baylor University took the 1st place team finish at the 2022 Great Northwoods Sales Warmup at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. In addition to seeing the colorful Fall leaves, the team experienced a little snow and early winter temperatures.
Student teams from 23 universities participated in this competition which features grocery products sold through distribution and retail stores. Chloe Carlson and Kristina Ward (seniors) and Caleb Paschke (junior) in the Professional Selling program, represented Baylor in this competition. Kristina finished 2nd in the field of 69 competitors, while Caleb finished 6th. Chloe rounded out Baylor’s representation and placed 12th overall. The team’s collective efforts allowed Baylor to outscore all other teams to take the first place team finish.
“The Great Northwood Sales Warmup gave me the opportunity to sell with style. This competition allowed me to craft and refine my personal selling style while learning about the food industry. The best part about selling a food product is that you can let your personality shine throughout the role-play. I couldn’t have made it to the finals without the support from my team and guidance from my coach,” shared Kristina Ward about her competition experience.
As this team’s faculty coach, Dr. Eric Swan noted, “The top results our team achieved was made possible by their thorough preparation. We had a great team of competitors and student coaches who pushed each other and worked hard towards a collective goal. I am proud of the way they prepared and then performed at the GNSW competition representing the Baylor ProSales program well. It was a joy to work with this team.” The ProSales program leverages a system of student and faculty coaches, with Cade Bissell, Mahak Rajwani, and Grant Williams serving as the student coaches.
Participating universities included Aurora University, Baylor University, Clemson University, Florida State University, Illinois State University, Kansas State University, Kennesaw State University, Louisiana State University, Marquette University, Purdue University, Texas A&M University, University of Central Florida, University of Cincinnati, University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of North Alabama, University of Texas at Dallas, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, University of Wyoming, Utah State University, and Winona State University.
