Student Feature – Carter Burns
Ready for More
From disc golf tournaments to sketching, from cooking to bass fishing, Carter Burns enjoys a variety of activities and strives to excel at all of them. Carter is a modern renaissance man. This desire to achieve extends beyond his hobbies to other aspects of Carter’s life. He is proudly involved in Baylor student government as a student senator and serves on the finance committee. Service is another passion for Carter, from his fraternity, where he was service chairman, volunteering locally in Dallas and Waco or serving abroad on numerous church mission trips. Carter views a career in sales as an extension of this passion for service as sales provides an opportunity to help solve problems. This sales-as-serving-others perspective gives Carter confidence that he is on the right track.
As a dual major in Professional Selling and Management Information Systems, Carter learned that he does not have to fit into someone else’s mold of a business professional. It isn’t about becoming something that you are not, but becoming the best version of the person you already are. Carter practiced becoming the best version of himself during a summer sales internship at Dell Technologies. He is committed to refining his skills and ProSales has given him the tools and experiences to do just that. One of the skills he has been actively developing is how to be a better listener because Carter cares about people and relationships. He is steadfast and a rock for his friends and family. He carries this steadfastness into his work, being able to make tough decisions with resolve and tact.
