Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling is excited to announce the finalists for the Baylor Business Ethics Competition (BBEC), a ProSales program-specific competition designed to challenge ProSales students with ethical dilemmas evident in real sales organizations.

The ProSales BBEC engaged 68 students on 17 teams who developed proactive plans to be highly successful and ethical sales representatives in a medical device company where off-label use of devices can be a challenge. The top three teams for this year’s BBEC include:

  • Team Owens: Austin Owens, Carter Burns, Katelyn Johnson & Saylor Yoos
  • Team Bain: Megan Bain, Daevin Garcia, Rebeka Shols & Jacob Wassell
  • Team Hills: Lauren Hills, Daniel Deian, Abby Haan & Joshua Lively

Top individual speakers were Megan Baniewicz, Jacob Wassell, and Saylor Yoos, who were chosen by their room judges. Participants competed in three rooms with five judges per room, comprised of twelve business executives and three Baylor faculty and staff.

“We gave students a different challenge this year by asking them to be prepared to navigate potential ethical and political dilemmas evident in the medical device field. Challenges abound in a space where medical device regulations and use in the U.S. can be far more restrictive than in other countries. Having a personal plan and approach in mind in advance of confronting a situation can mean the difference between doing what’s both legal and ethical versus not,” said Dr. Andrea Dixon, executive director of the Center for Professional Selling. Cash prizes are awarded to the top teams and best presenters.
