Dr. Bill Weeks Named Hankamer’s Distinguished Professor

Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business recently named Dr. William (Bill) Weeks as the Distinguished Professor of the Year for 2016-2017. Dr. Weeks was honored for his excellence in research, teaching and service over the course of his career. Dr. Weeks played an integral role in building Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling during his 25+ year tenure at Baylor. He also launched the very first sales competition, the North American Sales Cup Competition, where Baylor students engaged with students from HEC (in Montreal), and the University of Monterrey (Mexico). The competition involved translators and was the precursor to the National Collegiate Sales Competition. Beyond Baylor, Bill was one of the eight founders of the University Sales Center Alliance, an organization now over 40 universities strong.

“In many respects, this award is akin to the Ironman triathlon where a competitor must excel in all three components to be a winner. In the Ironman, the winner must be a top cyclist, swimmer, and runner,” says Dr. Andrea Dixon, executive director of the Center for Professional Selling. “In Bill’s case, he made strong and consistent contributions over his Baylor career in teaching, research and serving the university and broader academic community. When people in the academy hear, ‘Bill Weeks,’ they immediately think ‘cornerstone of the sales discipline.’ The Baylor ProSales program would not be where it is today if it weren’t for Bill’s foundational work in this area.”
