Baylor Professional Selling Students Place First and Third at RBI National Sales Challenge
Baylor Professional Selling seniors Caleb Ellison, Margaret Newton, and Thomas Scaff brought home top honors from the Russ Berrie Institute National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University November 16-18, 2016. Baylor University took 11th place among the 31 universities participating in the competition.
Newton placed first and Ellison placed third in the Speed Sell Competition out of a field of 72 individual competitors. Ellison was also voted the Viewers’ Choice Award winner by the audience and online viewers. The Speed Sell competition requires competitors to give a 2-3 minute presentation highlighting their personal skills and experience.
“RBI was a great experience that enabled me to connect with students from other professional selling programs and sales executives in the country, growing my network and furthering my professional development along the way,” said Ellison. Newton added, “RBI was a great learning experience. I got to work with a younger ProSales student who brought in a lot of new, fresh ideas.”
Baylor Professor Chuck Fifield coached the team alongside student coaches Sam Azide, Blair Beene, Josh Bethany and Megan Macaulay and staff coach Brianna Hensley.
“The RBI Sales Challenge mission is to encourage excellence in sales,” said Fifield. “Due to the multi-faceted nature of the competition, it demands a lot of preparation by competitors and it offers a wealth of learning opportunities as its reward for a job well done.”
The RBI competition is designed to strengthen students’ sales skills and offer the opportunity to network with business executives from companies around the country.
