Baylor Brings Home Top 10 Finish at Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up
Baylor Professional Selling students Melanie Moore, Caleb Simmons and Clay Tinkham competed in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up October 20-23, 2016. The team represented Baylor well, with junior Melanie Moore finishing 7th place overall and Baylor finishing 8th place out of 21 teams.
“The Great Northwoods competition was an invaluable experience, not only because it helped me refine my sales skills, but because it also introduced me to new companies and allowed me the opportunity to network with fellow salespeople,” said junior Melanie Moore. “The competitors in the Great Northwood Sales Warm-Up did an incredible job representing Baylor, both as students and Christians, at the competition,” said student coach Lauren DePizzol.
Dr. Andrea Dixon, Executive Director of Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling, led the team as faculty coach, and Professional Selling Seniors Christine Coxon, Lauren DePizzol and Sarah Richardson played an integral role in preparing the team as student coaches. Alumni coach Taylor Dixon of 3M and corporate coach Kelsey Lofstedt of Allianz also prepared the team during the on-site competition in Wisconsin.
“The Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up exposes students to interesting sales situations and great products. Learning how to develop the value proposition is an important part of the Sales Warm-Up learning experience,” said Dr. Andrea Dixon. “It’s my favorite competition of the nine external competitions to which we send our students.”
The Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up is a national collegiate sales competition that showcases marketing and sales students from across the United States and is designed to be a transformative learning experience.
