Baylor Professional Selling students recently brought home a second-place overall team finish from the Western States Collegiate Sales Competition (WSCSC) at the University of California-Chico April 14-15, 2016. Baylor placed second among a field of 14 universities and 54 individual competitors.

Cole Edmiston placed 5th overall (a 5th place finish in the technology context and a 6th place finish in the consumer package goods (CPG) context), Maddison Johnston placed 7th overall (a 3rd place finish in the CPG context) and Jordan Davis placed 14th overall.

“The WSCSC was a tremendous experience that allowed me to showcase my sales skills, as well as meet many talented peers whom all share the same passion for sales,” said Edmiston. Johnston added, “The WSCSC was a challenging and rewarding competition that pushed us to think on our feet.”

The team began preparation for the competition in January, and Dr. Andrea Dixon, Executive Director for Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling and Faculty Coach for the WSCSC team shared that student coaches Josh Bethany, Tyler Cook and Luke Stainback, along with alumni coach, Ann Petricca, played an integral role in the team’s success.

“Coaching students as they learn two very different industries and products (enterprise mobile management platforms and salty snack store promotions) can be quite challenging. The Baylor ProSales system of preparation allows our students to finish at the top of most competitions because we prepare as a team,” said Dixon.
