Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling (ProSales) hosted its annual Top Gun Training on January 15 at Baylor’s Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation.

More than 100 ProSales students and Center for Professional Selling Advisory Board and Ambassador Board members participated in a networking lunch and workshops on “How to Manage Your Boss.” The program provided students the opportunity to brainstorm with executives during breakout sessions throughout the afternoon.

“I continue to be impressed with this group of students — their preparedness, their passion and the insights they have. You’re bringing them real-world situations, and they’re tackling and addressing them as if they’ve had years of work experience,” said Angela Chapoy, ProSales Advisory Board member and Regional Sales Director for Lennox Industries.

The Top Gun workshops were presented by ProSales Seniors and focused on tips and strategies for new graduates and interns to successfully navigate relationships with managers in the workplace.

“This was great to hear from upper classmen and executives on managing yourself and your boss, and this is really going to help me as I continue to develop,” said ProSales sophomore Scott Pratt.

“Often curriculums miss the boat on this step, and we many times deal with new graduates who aren’t as prepared and haven’t thought through the tactical strategies needed for work,” said Chapoy. “I think it’s very important that students get this opportunity to think about and address these topics and situations that are very real and will help them hit the ground running with their first job.”
