Baylor Professional Selling students Christine Coxon, Lauren DePizzol and Forrest Frank competed in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up October 22-24, 2015. The team represented Baylor well, with Lauren DePizzol finishing sixth place overall in a field of 66 competitors from 22 universities.
“The Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up is more than just a sales competition; it is a learning experience. Because I participated in this competition, I have more confidence in myself and my skills,” said Coxon. DePizzol added, “It also provided a great platform to compare myself among competitors from other universities and grow from their experiences and strengths.”
Dr. Andrea Dixon, Executive Director of Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling, led the team as faculty coach, and Professional Selling Seniors Alex Ingold and Erin Robason played an integral role in preparing the team as student coaches. Advisory Board Coach Rob Keeney and Alumni Coach Kelsey Mann also prepared the team for the category management competition using syndicated and category-level data. Professional Selling students Melanie Moore and Shelby Stewart served as apprentices for this competition.
“This all-junior-level team represented Baylor so well that many judges and hiring managers mistook them for seniors,” said Dixon. “During the debriefing sessions with judges, the judges were surprised to learn that all three students are currently enrolled in their first sales class.”
The Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up is a national collegiate sales competition that showcases marketing and sales students from across the United States and is designed to be a transformative learning experience.
