Student Feature – Oscar Velasquez

“In everything that I do, I seek excellence. My love for people, my passion for relationships and my commitment to creating value are what drives me,” said Oscar Velasquez, a senior marketing and ProSales major from San Antonio, TX.

Oscar’s passion for excellence was on display last October when he received a standing ovation in the finals of the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up sales competition. Oscar Velasquez was the overall winner of the entire competition based on his exceptional performance.

Oscar’s passion goes beyond success in the classroom and in sales competitions. “Giving back to the community has been a true passion since I was a child,” said Velasquez. Oscar participated on four mission trips, three to New Orleans, LA to assist those impacted by Hurricane Katrina and one to Portland, ME. “I have directly seen the impact that one can have on the lives of others. It is easy to lose sight of the many gifts we have been given. Giving back is the very least we can do,” said Velasquez.
