London is the most cosmopolitan city in the world. It is a beautiful city with plenty of cultural activities. Its location makes it the gateway to Europe and the perfect place to learn about International Business, since most corporations choose London to be their European headquarters. In the 2023 edition I will be teaching two courses: INB 3333 and INB 3V98/ECO 3390.

INB 3333 — Doing Business across Cultures

• Understand the impact of cross-cultural factors on business negotiations.
• Acquire practical knowledge for business interactions in international settings.
• Enhance communication skills and increase confidence in dealing effectively across cultures.
• Acquire pragmatic tools for international negotiations.

• Assesses the cultural context and determine the level of cultural toughness that a given country might present for an American company.
• Understand and appreciate the need for ethics and social responsibility in international management.

INB 3V98/ECO 3390 — European Union and Brexit

The European Union constitutes the most prominent experiment in peaceful international cooperation in world history. In this readings course we will learn more about the origins, evolution and impact of the European Union. We will also discuss the main EU institutions like the Council, the Commission, the Parliament, the Court of Justice, the European Single Currency, the Single Market and free movement, asylum & immigration, the Common Agricultural Policy etc. We will place special emphasis on why did the UK vote for Brexit and what will that mean for both Britain, the EU, and the USA?

These two INB courses are required or elective courses for the Management, Economics, International Business, and International Studies majors. They can be used as equivalent courses for Area Studies, Political Science, and other Business and A&S majors.
