General

What is a typical day at Worship Lab?

Each morning will begin with breakfast and devotionals lead by our visit worship artists. Students will spend the morning and afternoon in separate band rehearsals, breakout sessions for specific instruments, and exploring various topics related to worship. Students will attend worship services each morning combined with those in attendance to the Alleluia Conference. Evening sessions will feature our visiting artists with testimonials, music, and questions from students.

What makes Worship Lab unique?

Worship Lab stands apart from other events for its intentionally small feel and intimate setting. Occasionally, visiting worship artists participate in our camp to build relationships and dialogue one-on-one with students. Their presence is not simply a selfie and CD signing experience. At Baylor, our desire is to encourage your education of worship, while allowing you to develop world-class skills and God-sized hearts.

Do I need to come with a group?

Not at all! We do welcome the participation of entire youth worship teams, but the majority of our students come on their own. Before your arrival, you will be assigned a spot in one of our camp bands spend rehearsal time with this smaller group, as well as, the entire camp as a whole.

What type of lodging is provided?

Baylor University provides on-campus housing in one of our dorms for this camp. Specifics on room assignments are made in the weeks leading up to the event. You can request a specific roommate during registration. If you would like to request a roommate after registration has ended, you must email Chason_Disheroon@baylor.edu by June 15th.

A list of camp coordinator contact numbers will be provided to parents on or prior to registration. These numbers are to be used in the event of an emergency. Our camp does not collect cell phones from students upon arrival; Parents should be able to communicate with students through this method when necessary.

When is the final concert or recital?

The Worship Lab concludes with a final worship service, showcasing students’ musical preparation throughout the week of rehearsals. Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend. This event will take place in the sanctuary of Seventh and James Baptist Church from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The address for Seventh and James is: 602 James Ave, Waco, TX 76706.

Behavior & Discipline

What is Baylor’s discipline policy?

Before your arrival, students and parents will be required to read, sign, and mail in the university’s discipline policies. Students are expected to follow these guidelines in order to ensure all students present at our camp have a safe and pleasant time while on campus. Any violation of this policy will result in the guardians being notified and potential removal from program.

What is the camp dress code?

Neat, casual, appropriate hot weather attire with comfortable shoes. Tshirts must reflect good taste. The facilities get very cold, so you may wish to bring a sweatshirt or sweater.

Arrival and Departure

What if my child must arrive late or leave early?

We understand that a camp participant may be required to leave for circumstances related to illness or family emergency. In the case that a participant considered to be a minor must leave the camp, a parent or guardian must notify the camp coordinator Chason Disheroon (chason_disheroon@baylor.edu) . The counseling staff will then be notified, and we will provide assistance to the student in making arrangements for departure.

If a camper will be arriving late to the camp, please notify the camp office in advance as of the exact time we can expect he/she to arrive.

Can I send my child to camp a day early? Can my child stay an extra night following the camp?

GENERALLY, No. Staff will not be available to supervise students prior to the first scheduled day of camp or following the conclusion of camp. Baylor dormitories cannot accommodate early arrivals or late departures. Please make travel arrangements so that your child arrives on the first day and leaves at the conclusion of the camp on Friday. Please contact our office for greater detail on this topic.

Is parking available when I arrive on campus?

Parking is limited on campus. Parking information will be available upon registration on the first day of camp. Parking is open to the public on weekends; however, parking regulations are in effect Monday through Friday.

Camp Staff & Safety

Who are the camp staff members and how are they prepared?

Counseling staff members are carefully selected from among the most responsible and mature students enrolled in graduate and undergraduate degrees at Baylor. All staff members are instructed in matters of supervising young people who are our guests at camp. All of our camp workers receive safety training for minors as well as pass criminal background checks.

Is my child safe at your camp?

Yes. The safety of our campers is a priority. Each year we evaluate our practices and adjust accordingly to ensure both a successful and safe camper experience. The camp staff, counselors, and campers will go over a number of safety guidelines during the opening meeting to list expectations for behavior and supervision. Campers will be under supervision throughout the entirety of the event and are not allowed to transition from location to location without counselors present. Additionally, an equal number of male and female counselors will be present throughout the camp.
