      • Identify and recommend evidence-based practices for creating an inclusive and equitable environment to all course instructions (e.g., providing syllabus statements, ways to integrate DEI-related topics into courses)

      • Identify and implement best recruiting practices for diverse faculty members to join the department

      • Develop a plan to retain diverse faculty members that involves increasing support, fostering feelings of belonging, creating leadership opportunities, and highlighting both the teaching and research accomplishments of such faculty members

    • Objectives:
      • Establish and execute methods to increase the number of applications from individuals identified as being from underrepresented backgrounds.
      • Create more training opportunities for graduate students to develop awareness and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., graduate seminar series in diversity, guest lectures from established faculty members outside of the university)
      • Create a system of support for graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds
