Description: Many worship practices of today’s Evangelical Christian churches are influenced by contemporary Christian music. This worship culture is sometimes at odds with more traditional expressions of worship, even though physical gestures are employed, in both cases, to lead the congregation in worship. This session explores the issue of bodily expression during the exercise of congregational singing, especially in relation to the role of worship leader as a difficult negotiation of traditional kantor and contemporary frontman.
