  1. I agree that the room is tremendously better than before.

It is a bit unfortunate that the two front blocks of seats are only accessible from the middle aisle, but greater access would mean removing seats from the ends, which would make the capacity smaller. The same goes for the back block, in terms of not having a middle aisle, but this again would reduce seating capacity.

If I had a vote on the clock, I would say to put it on the side of the pillar in the middle left of the room (facing the audience), so that the professor/speaker can see it clearly.

I wasn’t aware that there was lapel mic capability (not that I would need it), but having a note of that somewhere on the console and directions of how to employ it might be useful.

Also if a table were to be placed in the room, it could be placed on the far end of the stage, opposite the podium/console.

Having people/students step up to the stage is somewhat of a hazard, though, with the height of the stage from the classroom floor. If a small, single, semicircular step could be placed at the bottom of the middle aisle, this might help with access to the stage, as long as it doesn’t cut off the flow of traffic into the front row of seats.

Additionally, if a sign could be posted outside the doors of 152 (and all external entry Draper rooms) that “sticks out” from the wall (perpendicular to the brick wall surface), this would be VERY helpful to students who are always looking for rooms in Draper.

The projector seems to be a bit blurry – if it could be focused or the lens cleaned?) a little, this would help.

Finally, the dual screens on the console are nice for the professor, especially when using Powerpoint, but the default seems to be set so that the “slide viewer” is on the main screen and the “slide show” is on the secondary screen. If that setting could be reversed, that would be very helpful.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and effort. I look forward to the last row of seats coming in and other final touches.

    • Dr. Kim,

Wanted to follow up on your PowerPoint presenter view question. Unfortunately, PowerPoint doesn’t allow us to make a global settings change for that. But you can make the change on your user profile, and we believe you should only have to do that once. In PowerPoint, if you click Slide Show at the top, there should be a drop-down for Monitor that will allow you to select which monitor the presentation should appear on.

We also double-checked focus on the projector. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us at 254-307-1614 for immediate assistance or email us at CTS@baylor.edu for less urgent issues.

  2. A professor emailed asking for “a table at the front” for student assignments, etc.

Makes sense, but visualizing the student traffic, I do not see where this might go. Next to the podium? (seems like a bottleneck) In the handicap seating area? (convenient, but out of the professor’s sight). And, is an 18″ x 24″ table or short cart adequate? Does anyone have surplus sitting around?

  3. The room is 200% better in my view. Thank you all so much for your very hard work this summer to make this happen.

The only adjustment I’ve had to make thus far is using the lapel mic because the room is deeper now and the overhead speakers really help reach the back rows, and preserve my voice.

I’ve requested a clock be added to one of the walls facing the stage, and am told this is underway. I think the room number sign has been added as well, but not sure.

Again, my gratitude for all the excellent changes you’ve made and in an amazingly short amount of time.
