RESEARCH FOCUS

Phenotype-driven research to characterize the mechanisms of functional dysbiosis in microbiomes.  We seek to move the understanding of microbiome activities from largely inference-based to function-based by overcoming the limitations of the current genome-to-phenotype paradigm. Our group performs interdisciplinary research in microbiome sciences, chemical biology, exposure sciences, and functional -omics to study protein function and protein-small molecule interactions in host-associated microbes and microbiomes, and directly in host organisms.

MEET OUR RESEARCH TEAM

We are a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students from all over the US and the World.  Our team seeks to perform challenging microbiome and chemical biology research with creativity, innovation, passion, and a good dose of fun.
