A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Baylor University to join the research team of Dr. Mary Lynn Trawick.  Candidates for this position should have a strong, demonstrated background in biochemistry and cell biology with significant expertise in cell culture, western blotting and flow cytometry (and/or immunohistochemical staining and/or confocal microscopy).  We are looking for someone who is innovative and imaginative and works well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.  Well-established collaborative research projects in the Trawick Laboratory at Baylor University focus on understanding the mechanism of action of tubulin-binding antimitotic agents and vascular disrupting agents (VDAs), which initiate collapse of tumor vasculature resulting massive tumor necrosis; studying inhibitors of cathepsin L by kinetics, cell-based assays and molecular docking to target and arrest cancer metastasis; the investigating bioreductively activatable prodrugs designed to target tumor hypoxia using enzymatic and cell-based assays; exploring protein-targeting-drug conjugates designed to selectively deliver small-molecule anti-cancer agents to the tumor microenvironment, and inhibitors of cruzain as potential treatment agents for Chagas’ disease.
