Sex trafficking is the compulsion of a victim to perform commercial sex acts by means of force, fraud, or coercion. Increasingly, information technology is being used to recruit victims, support sex trafficking operations, and advertise the sexual services of victims.

To address this problem, a multidisciplinary research team comprised of criminal justice professionals, academic researchers, and private sector professionals is developing a holistic approach to examine the role of information technology in the context of domestic sex trafficking.
