Annika Schwans

I am originally from Houston, TX, but have grown up all over the world, including in the Middle East. I transferred to Baylor about two years ago and am majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology with minors in Biochemistry and Arabic. I am graduating at the end of this year, December 2022. My career goals include continuing my education with a masters and PhD in the field of Molecular Medicine. I hope to work in the pharmaceutical industry one day researching cancer therapies. My hobbies include rock climbing and travelling whenever I get the chance. My favorite restaurant in Waco is Taco Z. A fun fact about me is that I’m really good at Uno.

My name is Alagu Subramanian and I’m a University Scholars Major concentrating in Biology, Medical Humanities and Business Administration. I’m a third-year undergraduate student in the pre-medical and honors programs who aspires to be a medical researcher and physician. I’m from San Ramon, California and love playing soccer, volunteering, and dancing in my free time. My favorite eatery in Waco would have to be Hecho En Waco Mexican Cuisine!

My name is Courtney Wiethorn, and I am a second-year Chemistry Major at Emory University who’s working on the Baylor MiniPharma team this summer. After graduating, I plan to pursue a PhD in organic chemistry to one day work as a medicinal chemist. I am from Waco, Texas and love playing volleyball and tennis, reading, cooking, and going to get boba with friends. My favorite places to eat in Waco are Luigis, Clay Pot, Ninfas, and Cha Community.

Andres Chinchilla Quesada

My name is Andres Chinchilla, and I am a class of 2025 Science Research Fellow. I am a sophomore with a concentration in Biochemistry and a minor in Japanese. This is my first semester working in the MiniPharma team. After graduating, I plan to go to graduate school to study Organic Chemistry in order to eventually work as a research scientist. I am deeply fascinated in the pharmacology field and I love to be involved in it as much as I can. I am an international student from Costa Rica studying at Baylor. Even though I do miss my home, I’ve been loving Texas and its people. I love videogames, books, movies, and pretty much anything geeky.

My name is Geoffrey Jandrue, and I am in the class of 2024. I am a junior in the Honors Program who is majoring in biology and minoring in biochemistry on the pre-med track. This Summer 2022 semester will be my first semester working in the MiniPharma Team. Currently, my career goals involve treating patients as an oncologist while researching new treatments for cancer. I am from Norwood, Massachusetts, and although I am far away from home, I love living in Texas. I enjoy walking my dogs and reading.

Hello, I’m Victoria González and I’m from Edinburg, TX! I’m a junior majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Nutrition Sciences, and I’m also in the BIC. In the future, I’d love to earn a PhD and work in research regarding the effects of food and medicine, but ultimately I would love to become a professor. I enjoy cooking, working out, reading, and going to coffee shops in my spare time. My favorite spots to eat in Waco are Blasian Asian and Alpha Omega!

Hi, my name is Jeffrey Adams and I am a junior biochemistry student currently on the pre-med track. I am from Covington, Louisiana which is 30 minutes north of New Orleans. I intend to pursue a career somewhere in cardiology or biochemistry following my undergraduate years. My hobbies include playing the saxophone, playing video games, camping, and hanging out with friends. One of my favorite restaurants to eat at is George’s for their appetizers.

My name is Caroline Graham and I am a junior Biochemistry major / Mathematics minor on the pre-med track. My post-grad plans include attending medical school to become an orthopaedic surgeon, as well as continuing to work in research. I’m from Montrose, Colorado, and I love running, skiing, and boating, or pretty much anything that involves the outdoors. My favorite restaurant in Waco is definitely Twisted Root, but you can’t beat Cafe Cappuccino for brunch.

My name is Evan Mason, and I am a junior Business Fellows major / biochemistry minor on the pre-med track. I am from Springfield, Missouri (which is home to the original Bass Pro!). After college, I plan on attending medical school to become an ophthalmologist. In my free time, I love playing music, sports, and video games with my friends. I personally play tennis and the drums, and I am always looking for new bands to listen to. My favorite restaurant in Waco is, without a doubt, the Clay Pot. I am a loyalist for their spicy fried rice.

I’m currently a senior Biochemistry Major with a minor in Biology, and I’m set to graduate in May 2022. I am originally from Walnut Creek, California. I am involved with the Baylor Army ROTC program (not Airforce ROTC) and I’m a MSIV CDT within the program. My career goal is to become an Army Dentist. My interests/hobbies include hiking, backpacking, skiing, watching/playing football, weightlifting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Tai kickboxing. My favorite restaurant in Waco is Ninfa’s. Nick is currently pursuing dentistry at Texas A&M College of Denistry.

Saawan is a Business Fellows and Management major, with pre-med ambitions. His interest lie in gaining experience so that he may continue doing research in a clinical setting. Saawan joins the Taube lab with experience from MD Anderson’s cytogenetics department under Dr. Multani and Dr. Pathak. He is now at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

My name is Dara Love. I am a senior pursuing a Biochemistry degree with a minor in Biology. I’ve worked on the MiniPharma team since the fall of 2019 on multiple projects in a few different capacities; I started on the computational team on the Gracilin project. I now do synthetic work on the Pateamine A project. She now works for the NIH, and will later apply to research-focused medical schools. I’m from Wichita, KS, and while there’s no place like home, I love Texas. I practice partner swing and country dances whenever possible. I also love hiking and running with my dog, Sadie. She is now at the NIH as a result of her Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Training Award
