What do I do?
I’m a graduate student studying metastatic breast cancer at Baylor University.
Officially, my job is to perform research exploring small molecule-targeting of cancer stem cells. I ask questions about the molecule’s mechanism of action and how the metastatic state of the cells sensitizes them to the effects of the small molecule. I also have had the privilege of teaching, though I am starting as full-time research assistant in Spring of 2019.
And also? I do outreach. Which really means I connect people in STEM who want to talk about their work with people who want to learn. In doing so, I foster connections, I humanize science, and I strengthen my community.
Ask me more; you know I’d love to tell you about it.
