Then Moses came down from the mountain and, gathering the children of Israel together, he taught them saying:

I am the Lord your God, have none other before me,

Make no image of me,

Do not use my name lightly,

Remember to sanctify the Sabbath,

Honor your Father and Mother,

Do not murder,

Do not act adulterously,

Do not steal,

Do not testify falsely against your neighbor,

Do not resent your neighbor for his possessions.

Then Joshua said: “Do we have to write this down?”

and Aaron said: “Are we supposed to know this?”

and Elazar said: “Will we have a test on it?”

and Itamar said: “What if we don’t know it?”

and Pinkas said: “Do we have to turn this in?”

and the gatherer of wood said: “Do we need to put our name on it?”

and the Israelite, son of an Egyptian said: “The other nations didn’t have to learn this!”

and Korah said: “What does this have to do with real life?”

Then the 70 elders asked to see Moses’ lesson plans and inquired of Moses’ terminal objectives in the cognitive domain.

And Moses wept.
