Postdocs

If you have a background in neurobiology, otolaryngology, or molecular biology please send an email including your C.V. and a brief statement that details your interest in our lab to Dwayne_Simmons@baylor.edu and/or Simmonslaboratory@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you, and if there is a good fit between your skills and what we are currently seeking we will contact you to schedule a phone or video conversation.

Ph.D. Students

In the Simmons Lab we like to work with an enthusiastic, creative, and positive attitude. If you think you may be interested in working with us please start by reading a few of our papers to get a feel for what we are researching and our methods. A good start would be, Tong, B., Hornak, A.J., Maison, S.F., Ohlemiller, K.K., Liberman, M.C. and Simmons, D.D., 2016. Oncomodulin, an EF-hand Ca2+ buffer, is critical for maintaining cochlear function in mice. Journal of Neuroscience, 36(5), pp.1631-1635, PDF. Students interested in pursuing Ph.D. work apply through the Department of Biology Graduate School Program. More information can be found here. Competitive applicants will have had previous research experience, preferably in molecular biology, neuroscience or otolaryngology. Other academic backgrounds will be considered. If after reading some of our publications you are still interested, please send an email to Dwayne_Simmons@baylor.edu and/or Simmonslaboratory@gmail.com and include the following: Undergraduate and post-graduate GPA(s) and transcript(s); GRE score (percentiles are acceptable as well), and a brief statement of purpose that explains why you are interested joining our research team. If there is an opening and you seem like a good fit we will contact you to schedule either a phone conversation or video chat.

Undergraduates

We are always looking for bright, motivated undergrads to contribute to our research projects. If you are interested in doing research with us please send an email to Dwayne_Simmons@baylor.edu and/or Simmonslaboratory@gmail.com, and please include the following in the email: a brief statement detailing what interests you about our research, your current GPA, an up-to-date transcript (can be unofficial pulled from BearWeb), and any prior research experience you have had, if any.
