Concepts of Educational Technology (EDLD 5302) reawakened my love of learning by helping me shift from a fixed mindset back into a growth mindset. The most important lesson I learned in this course was about using the COVA model (Harapnuik, n.d.) to give students ownership of their learning. For example, the ePortfolio assignment required us not only to determine what specific tool to use, but we had to decide for ourselves how to organize and arrange the content. In addition to the portfolio, as learners, we were given complete ownership of each of our specific projects.
For my Growth Mindset Plan, I took the challenge of learning a new technology with Prezi to capture and describe how to shift from a fixed mindset into a growth mindset (Dweck, 2006).
For my Learning Manifesto, I took ownership of the project and created a 5-minute video using Animaker. This was a huge risk for me because I had never used this type of tool before and had never really created videos at all.
Finally, when I began creating a list of my Professional Learning Networks as described by Crowley (2014), I discovered that I had already been a part of many more networks than I had anticipated.
