Biography

Kelli L. Barr is currently an Assistant Professor of Tropical Disease and Global Health Biology in the Department of Biology at Baylor University. Dr. Barr’s research focuses on arboviral epidemiology in the Middle East and arboviral pathogenesis using human organoids and stem cells as a model system. Prior to Baylor, Dr. Barr was a Research Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. There she worked to define the epidemiology of several hemorrhagic and encephalitic arboviruses in Pakistan. Dr. Barr teaches courses in introductory Biology, Parasitology, and of course, Virology. Her hobbies include reading, embroidery, cooking, and anything animal related.
