The Baylor University Faculty of Color Alliance (BU FOCA) was established in Spring 2017. We are a support group for faculty of color at Baylor University and seek to address issues of diversity that affect all faculty at Baylor.
We support expanding the diversity of the faculty, administration, curriculum, and research agenda at Baylor University to reflect the demographics of student body and the nation. We realize that we are role models to both our students and to each other and strive to be supportive mentors and advocates.
In Fall 2018, Baylor University became an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity partially in response to a proposal put forth by BU FOCA. BU FOCA co-hosts with the Office of the Provost the Faculty and Staff of Color Welcome Reception every fall.
We generally meet hybrid during lunch 3-4 times a semester.
