Theme

Keeping our dynamic set of skills in mind, this year’s STEM Librarian South theme is “Share, Teach, Explore, and Make.” We invite proposals that highlight the diverse ways STEM librarians contribute to knowledge creation and dissemination. Whether you’re sharing best practices, teaching new skills, exploring emerging technologies, or making impactful contributions to your community, we encourage submissions that highlight your passion and expertise.

Talk Types

Online

  • 15 minute talks only

In-person

  • 15 minute talk (plus 5 minutes for Q&A)
  • 5 minute lightning talk
  • Poster session
  • Panel (45 minutes)
  • Workshop (1 hour)

For panels, please include a minimum of 2 speakers and a moderator

For workshops, please include learning objectives, presentation material requests, space needs, technology support, and maximum number of participants in your abstract.

Respect

  1. Respectful Interactions: Treat all attendees, speakers, organizers, and staff with respect and consideration, regardless of their background, identity, or views.
  2. Open-mindedness: Embrace diverse perspectives and viewpoints. Engage in discussions constructively and with an open mind
  3. Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions. Refrain from using derogatory, discriminatory, or offensive language.

Inclusion

  1. Diversity: Celebrate diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, and abilities.
  2. Accessible Environment: Ensure all conference spaces, both virtual and physical, are accessible to participants with disabilities. Use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about others.
  3. Reporting Concerns: Report any concerns regarding harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior to conference organizers promptly.

Etiquette

  1. Punctuality: Arrive on time for sessions, both online and in-person. If joining online, test your technology beforehand to minimize disruptions.
  2. Active Participation: Engage actively during sessions by asking questions, participating in discussions, and respecting session moderators.
  3. Technology Etiquette: In virtual sessions, mute your microphone when not speaking to minimize background noise. Use the chat function respectfully and according to session guidelines.

Safety

  1. Reporting Violations: Report any violations of this Code of Conduct to conference organizers promptly. All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.
