Brief History

The STEM Librarian South Conference was established in 2011 as the Texas STEM Librarians conference by a group of science librarians in Texas.  Spearheaded by a small steering committee, the conference continued annually with different universities and local committees hosting and organizing the event.

Every year, librarians from outside of Texas attended the conference, and the steering committee wanted to officially include them in the conference title. With this inclusive spirit in mind, in 2016 the conference members decided to expand the conference to the southern United States, renaming it the STEM Librarian South Conference.
