The STEM Librarian South Conference is the only conference that focuses solely on STEM librarianship.  The conference generally consists of a keynote speaker and talks of various lengths from conference participants.  The topics cover all areas of science librarianship including (but not limited to) collections, data management, digital scholarship, information and data literacy, outreach, and science education and research.  Traditionally, the meeting is held in mid-late July.

The STEM Librarian South Conference was established in 2011 as the Texas STEM Librarians conference by a group of science librarians in Texas.  Spearheaded by a small steering committee, the conference continued annually with different universities around Texas and local committees hosting and organizing.

In 2016, the conference members decided to expand the conference to all of southern United States.  Every year, librarians from outside Texas attended the conference, and the steering committee wanted to official include them in the conference.
